Market Trends and the Alabama Center for Real Estate (ACRE) have collaborated to produce a forecast for 2013 Residential real estate sales in 2013.
The report was produced in part by studying how unemployment rates will affect real estate sales in selected markets. With the latest unemployment data being released for January 2013, they have now issued their projections for the year.
For the Birmingham area, sales are forecast to increase 8% versus 2012. This compares to an increase of 8% that was experienced in 2012 (versus 2011).
Time will tell if these projections hold up, but based on what we are experiencing in the market these projections appear to be reasonable.
