Market Trends has released their report on the Birmingham Real Estate Market reflecting final statistics for the month of March 2017. We cover the highlights below.
Dollar sales were up 15% in March versus last year, while the total number of houses increased 6%. This reflects an increase in average prices. The number of used homes sold increased 9% versus last year.
The total number of houses available for sale (“inventory”) was down over 12% versus last year. At the current pace of sales, there is a 5 month supply of houses on the market, which is less than the 6 months supply at this time last year.
The average days on market for used houses was 115 in March, or a bit under 4 months. This is the average time to get a contract on a house (so not including the closing period, which can take 4-8 weeks in many cases).
