Market Trends has released their report on the Birmingham real estate market for the month of January 2015.
Total dollar sales were up 12% over January 2014, while the total number of houses was up 4% versus last year. This indicates a rise in the average house price over the past year.
The total number of houses available for sale (“inventory”) was almost 3% below last year. At the current pace of sales, there is a 7 month supply of houses on the market. This is slightly better than 8 months last year. However, note this statistic varies greatly depending on your specific area.
The average days on market (average days it takes to get a house under contract) for used houses was 130 in January, or about 4 1/2 months.
