Total dollar sales were up 11% versus last year, while the total number of houses sold was up only 2% (indicating a slight rise in average prices).
The total amount of houses available for sale (“inventory”) was down over 13% versus this time last year. At the current pace of sales, there is a 7 month supply of houses on the market, which is 2 months better than last year’s 9 months.
The average days on market (time it takes to get a contract on the house) for used homes was 125 in October. This means houses take a little over 4 months on average to get a contract.
