Market Trends has released their update on the Birmingham real estate market for the month of December 2013. Here are some of the highlights.
The total number of houses sold during the month increased by 9% verus last year. The total dollar value of house sales increased 21% versus last year, which indicates an increase in prices.
The total amount of houses available for sale (“inventory”) was 8% lower than last year. At the current sales pace for used houses, it would take 7 months for all houses to sell. This is better than last year, which stood at 8 months.
The days on market for used homes — or days it takes to sell — was 135 days in December. This means that if your house is in good shape and priced well, it should sell in about 4.5 months.
