The Alabama Center for Real Estate has released their report on the Birmingham real estate market for the month of October 2017. We cover the highlights here.
The total number of houses sold in October decreased versus last year by about 6%. The median (middle) sales price was up 10% versus this time last year. The median sales price for the month was $198,000.
The average days on market (days until a house is under contract) for October was 62 days, which was a slight decline from 65 days last year.
Meanwhile, the total inventory (number of houses available for sale on the market), was down by over 10% from October 2016.
At the current pace of sales, there is a 5.7 month supply of houses on the market, down from 6.0 months last year.
