Market Trends has released their report on the Birmingham real estate market for the month of September 2013.
Total dollar sales for September were up a strong 24% versus September last year, while the number of houses sold was up only 11%. This indicates rising prices.
The total amount of houses available for sale on the market (“inventory”) was down 5% versus this time last year, which can be helpful if you are a seller with the right house in the right area (at the right price!).
At the current sales pace, it would take 8 months to sell all the houses on the market. This compares favorably to last year, when it was at 10 months.
The average days on market (days it takes to sell) for used houses was 130 days, so that means it is taking about 4 months to sell IF your house is priced well.
