Market Trends has released their report on the Birmingham Real Estate Market for the month of March 2015. Highlights are below.
Dollar sales were up 10% versus last year, while the number of houses sold was up 4%. The difference in these numbers represents rising home prices.
Total inventory — or the total number of houses available for sale — is down almost 12% versus last year.
There is currently a 8 month supply of used homes on the market (based on the current sales pace). This is almost two months better than last year, at 9 months. This can very considerably by area, however, even across different price ranges within the same area.
The average days on market (days it takes to sell) for used homes was 137 in March, or about 4.5 months.
