Birmingham Real Estate Market Update (December stats)

The Alabama Center For Real Estate has released their latest reporting on the state of the real estate market for Birmingham, Alabama, with stats updated through December 2017.  We cover the highlights here!

The total number of houses sold in December increased by about 3% versus last year. The median (middle) sales price was also up about 3% versus December 2017.  The median sales price for the month was $195,000.

The average days on market (days until a house is under contract) for December was 63 days, which was a decline from 68 days last year.

Meanwhile, the total inventory (number of houses available for sale on the market), was down by a whopping 20% from December 2016 (this has been a continuing trend).

At the current pace of sales, there is a 4.5 month supply of houses on the market, down from 5.8 months last year.
