Market Trends has released their report on the Birmingham Real Estate Market for the month of March 2015. We cover the highlights here.
Total dollar sales increased 17% versus last year. This indicates that the spring season is off to a strong start. While dollar sales were up 17%, the total number of houses sold was up 10% versus last year.
Part of this dollar increase is due to a shrinking inventory. The total number of houses available for sale is 3% less than last year.
There is currently a 7 month supply of used houses on the market, which is one month better than last year at 8 months. This varies wildly depending on your specific area, of course.
The average days on market for used houses was 130 in March, or about 4.5 months. The average price for all houses (new and used) has been steadily up for the past year.
